Hi, I’m Kyuha Jung (it’s pronounced Q-ha, and Jung as in jungle).
I’m a 3rd-year Informatics PhD student at the University of California, Irvine. I work with Dr. Yunan Chen in the HAI (Health and Information) Lab.
I am a researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), and Health Informatics.
My research currently focuses on adolescents’ mental health and well-being, particularly around (1) school and (2) AI technologies.
On one hand, I study how technology can better support members of the school community (such as students, mental health staff, and parents) in addressing their unique well-being needs. My work is community- and teenager-driven, and I am grateful for the support of my community partner, the Mental Health and Wellness Department of the Irvine Unified School District.
On the other hand, I study how adolescents use AI technologies in their everyday lives and explore how we could design AI systems that could better promote their well-being while mitigating the risks.
I have a background in UX research, design and social science.
Outside of work, I love making good food and espresso. I am also a singer-songwriter. Please listen to my songs so I can buy more coffee beans.
